Saturday, January 20 – 10:00 a.m. Towpath clean-up. Meet at Lock 11 in South Bound Brook, across from the
post office on Canal Road at Madison Street. Join members of the Canal Watch in their effort to keep the

Sunday, January 28 – 2:00 p.m. Two-Canal Walk. Meet outside of the Lambertville Station restaurant, near the
caboose. We will begin on the D&R Feeder on the New Jersey side and then cross the Delaware River to
walk along the Delaware Canal in New Hope. Cookies and hot chocolate await at the locktender’s home.

Saturday, February 24. 10:00 a.m. Hike 5.7 miles from Bulls Island to Holcombe-Jimison Farmstead Museum
(the meeting place; parking lot at the canal) or choose the 3-mile walk to Prallsville Mill. Leader: PamelaV’

Saturday, April 7 – 10:00 a.m. Walk through History. 2.6 miles on the D&R Canal towpath from Port Mercer to

Saturday, April 14 – Abbott Marshlands walk along the D&R Canal. – Meet at 10:00 a.m. at the Bordentown
Light Rail station. The Abbott Marshlands are a place where sky and land meet tidal waters. Where if you
listen, with imagination, you can hear Lenape children playing, mule tenders guiding their boats through the
locks of the D&R Canal, or even the French accent of royalty fleeing disaster in Europe. Leader: Bob Barth at

Sunday, April 15 – 2 p.m. MVPC Open House to celebrate its 4th Anniversary; Mule Tenders Barracks and
Scenic Byway visitor center, Griggstown Causeway in the Griggstown section of Franklin Township. (The
GPS address is 4 Griggstown Causeway, Princeton (but the building is in the Griggstown, not in Princeton).

Sunday, April 22 1:00 p.m. Bus tour along the D&R Canal in Somerset County. Sponsored by the Heritage Trail
Association, the tour will follow the canal from South Bound Brook to Kingston. $_____. Reservations

Saturday, May 5th 10am – 1:00 p.m.  Bilingual (English/Spanish) Nature Walk. Enjoy a casual 6-mile walk on the
D&R Canal towpath between Lock 11 in South Bound Brook and the Millstone Causeway. A shorter distance
option is available. Please meet at Lock 11 in South Bound Brook, across from the post office on Canal Road
at Madison Street. We will enjoy conversation in English and Spanish as we identify various wildlife and

Saturday, May 19 -- 10:00 a.m. History Bike Tour on the D&R Canal towpath from Kingston to Griggstown and
back, 10 miles round trip. Explore the structures along the D&R Canal with Canal Watch trustee Bob Barth.
Meet at the locktender’s home in Kingston. Bring water; helmet required. Allow three hours. Questions?

Sunday, June 3 – 8:00 a.m. Birdwatching walk.  Meet at the historic Van Wickle House off Easton Avenue at
the foot of DeMott Lane, Somerset section of Franklin. See and hear Baltimore and Orchard orioles and
other nesting songbirds as we walk along the Delaware & Raritan Canal. (GPS: 1289 Easton Avenue,

Donnelly of the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission will present “The Delaware River Bridges.”

Saturday, June 16. Hike 5.3 miles from Fireman’s Eddy to Prallsville Mill (the meeting place) or choose the
2.6-mile walk to the Holcombe-Jimison Farm. The tour will include the historic remnants of the feeder canal
outlet lock to the river, other historic canal structures and expansive views across river. Leader: Pamela V’

Saturday, October 27. Hike 6.2 miles from Washington Crossing to Ellarslie, the Trenton City Museum in
Cadwalader Park (the meeting place) or choose the 2.4-mile walk to Scudder’s Falls. The tour will pass by
Wilburtha and Upper Ferry Road and will include historic canal structures: several stop gates, a spillway, an

Friday, November 9 - 7:00-11:00 p.m. Star-gazing along the canal. Griggstown Star Gazing. Join us at the
Griggstown Grassland Preserve for an evening of stargazing. The planet Mars will be visible in the south.
The Andromeda Galaxy, the farthest object that can be seen with the unaided eye, will be high in the sky. We
will be looking at star clusters, open clusters and planetary nebulae in the Milky Way. The Grassland
Preserve is located at 1091 Canal Road in Griggstown. Space is limited. Please register by contacting Wayne

Saturday, November 17. Hike 4.5 miles from Whitehead Road to Ellarslie, the
Trenton City Museum in Cadwalader Park (the meeting place) or choose the 2.5-mile walk to the Trenton
